Agama Lizard
Reptile. Agama lizards are sometimes called rainbow lizards because of the colorful displays put on by the dominant males.

Agamas originally lived in forest and bush across Africa, but have since adapted to live in villages and compounds where their habitat has been cleared. They live inside the thatch of huts and other small spaces, emerging only to feed.

Agamas have strong limbs. Their bodies are compact and spiny. The scales on the body are small and keeled, with those along the back larger and mixed with scattered, enlarged, spiny scales.

Lizards in the Agamidae family include: agamas, dragons, tree lizards, sailfin lizards, and other agamids.

The agamas have always two pairs of well-developed limbs. The teeth are usually differentiated into incisors, canines and molars.
