American Tree Sparrows are northern breeders whose range does not extend quite far enough south to reach Alberta, although they do breed in northern B.C. and northern Saskatchewan.

The American Tree Sparrow (Spizella arborea) is a common, migrating songbird that lives in much of North America. It breeds in northern Canada but winters in the United States. Its song is a rapid, chirping warble.

Status Fairly common transient, uncommon in winter. It generally arrives rather late among fall migrants and transients (average 12 October, earliest 24 September).
