Food: Salmon, anchovy, capelin and other inshore fish, as well as squid and shrimp. Bottle nosed dolphins are commonly sighted around the British Isles, where they are seen mainly in seas to the south and west.

In southern California, breeding success and dispersal patterns appear related to oceanographic conditions, which affect the distribution of the birds' key prey, the northern anchovy.
Hovering over the water before plunge-diving to catch its prey, the Damara tern feeds mainly on small fish, such as mullet and anchovy, and on small squid (2).
Though not a lot of information is available about the food, they are often seen together with big flocks of Fluttering Shearwaters most likely targeting fish like Pilchard and Anchovy.

They primarily prey upon fish such as anchovy, sea bass, herring, cod, whiting and flatfish. They also feed on shrimp, mollusks and squid. Harbor seals do not chew their food; they either tear it into chunks or swallow it whole.

Elegant Terns forage on a variety of different schooling fish, with northern anchovy (Engraulis mordax) being their most important prey item. Other prey species include sardines, silversides, gobies, mackerels, and rarely, crustaceans.
It also supports the second largest fishery in the world, after the Peruvian anchovy.
The diet of the Northern Hemisphere humpback whales consists of planktonic crustaceans and small schooling fish such as herring, capelin, pink salmon, Arctic cod, walleye pollack, sardine, mackerel, anchovy and haddock.
In summer and fall, stripers consume Bay anchovy and Atlantic menhaden; in winter they eat larval and juvenile spot and Atlantic croaker; and in spring they feed on white perch, alewives and blueback herring.
