The aoudad will live in small family groups, usually with one dominant male for a group of females. The males compete for breeding dominance, but young and old males will often live together peacefully in the same group.
Like most desert dwellers, the aoudad is most active in the cooler hours of dawn and dusk, seeking shade and shelter during the day. Aoudad are exceptionally sure-footed and have such jumping power that they can clear a 2 meter / 6.
This sheep, also called the aoudad, is adapted to a dry, rough, barren, and waterless habitat " much as is the native bighorn sheep of our southwestern deserts.
