BALUCHITHERIUM Baluchitherium (now called Indricotherium) is a large, extinct, hornless rhinoceros. It was one of the largest land mammals. Adults were about 26 feet (8 m) long, 18 feet (5.5 m) tall, and weighed about 17 - 18 tons (16 tonnes).

BALUCHITHERIUM Baluchitherium (aka Indricotherium) was a large, extinct, hornless rhinoceros. It was one of the largest land mammals.
One extinct species of rhinoceros, Indricotherium ( = Baluchitherium), was the largest land mammal that ever lived, standing approximately 5.4 m tall at the shoulder and weighing around 30,000 kg (5 times the weight of modern elephants!).
The first weeks after giving birth, mother rhinos produce 5 - 7 gallons of milk daily. The Baluchitherium, an ancestor of the indian rhino,was the largest land mammal that ever lived. It was 18 feet high and 36 feet long.
Perissodactyls were once much more diverse, including the enormous horned brontotheres, the bizarre browsing, clawed chalicotheres, and the largest land mammal of all time, the Eocene Indricotherium (formerly known as Baluchitherium).
