Barking Treefrog
Description: Barking treefrogs (Hyla gratiosa) are typically 2 - 2.5 inches long. They are green to brown in color with an indistinct white or yellow stripe from the mouth to the thigh.

Barking Treefrog, Hyla gratiosa
The Barking Treefrog is one of the larger treefrog species found in the United States attaining lengths close to 2.75 inches. The are often very spotted on their dorsal surface as the above picture shows.

Barking Treefrog (Hyla gratiosa) was sitting high up on the Passionflower vine (Passiflora incarnata). I have many squirrel treefrogs and green treefrogs, but this one seemed larger and an odd color.

The Barking Treefrog, Hyla gratiosa, is found in temporary ponds statewide. It can change from light green to dark brown and may have rich spots bordered with light green or gray. It has light stripes bordered with brown along its sides.
