Black-bellied Whistling Ducks: Dendrocygna autumnalis
Appearance:
Both males and females look similar with red bills, pink feet, white wing patches, and black bellies. The head is brownish-gray with a white eye-ring.

Black-bellied Whistling Duck: Fulvous Whistling-Duck lacks black belly, has gray-blue bill, legs and feet and pale brown plumage.

No Fulvous Whistling Ducks this year, but across from the Harlingen library a flock of Black-bellied Whistling Ducks are always present near the reservoir. They feed at night.

Similar Species: Fairly distinctive. Same structurally as Black-bellied Whistling Duck.
