Black Salamander - Aneides flavipunctatus. This species was observed only during the spring visit. Specimens were noted near forested stream margins, and under a log on the partially open edge of Wilderness Road.

Description: The Mabee’s salamander is a slender brown or black salamander with a brown or grey belly. Its sides are heavily speckled with flecks of white.

Description: A fairly large: 7 - 17 cm (4.75-6.75 in), black salamander with numerous white/silver flecks and a slightly lighter venter and 16 costal grooves.
