Solids include all white (with red or blue eyes), lilac, blue, chocolate, and black. Netherland Dwarfs also exist in different shades, such as sable point, Siamese sable, and Siamese smoke pearl.

CHARACTER
A character is a inherited trait of an organism. Characters are usually described in terms of a states, for example: "blue eyes" vs. "brown eyes," where "eyes" is the character, and "blue" and "brown" are its states.

Their baby-blue eyes open at around two weeks and change to greenish-yellow in about 16-months.

Male Description

It is not hard to distingish though. The neck is longer and slimer. The bill is pointed and slim. There is no gular pouch. In breeding plumage there is a large bright blue eye ring. The eye ring is not easy to see unless you are close.

With age, this fish will develop bright blue eyes. Delicate when first introduced, but once acclimated is hardy. Juvenile fish are dull and pale. If good water qualities are maintained, the beautiful colors of this fish will develop.
