Africa Mammals Guide Information: The Bush Pig is a strong, stocky pig with powerful forequarters. Its upper tusks are barely visible, but the lower tusks are razor sharp and grow to 7cm in length.

The warthog is the only species of its kind, but it is related to the giant
forest hog and the bush pig.

For sleeping at night, each chimp (except infants who nest with their mothers) constructs a nest of vegetation 9-12 meters high in a tree. Males may hunt cooperatively for baby monkeys or bush pigs and even'share' some of the meat.

Chimpanzees primarily eat fruits, seeds, and leaves, bark, insects, and honey. However, chimpanzees are omnivorous and will occasionally hunt, kill, and eat meat (young monkeys, bush pigs, etc.) ...

Along the Sombreiro River in Nigeria a group of 20 Nile Soft-shelled turtles have been observed eating goat and bush pig carcasses. These turtles are diurnal and are known to bask on the shore for up to a half hour.

The "guinea" is believed to be because many of the first specimens came to England from South America on slave ships from Guinea (Africa) or because of their resemblance to the young of the bush pig (Guinea hog).

Within the category of small prey fall the prized red colobus monkey, bush pig, and birds eggs, as well as the dietary staple of insects.
