Civet The Civet cat, mammal from the family of Viverridae, related to the cats and native to Asia and Africa. The fur is a dull gray with streaks and spots of black, the face looks like that of the weasel. It is mainly nocturnal.

Humble Origins: Hyenas likely descended from small, arboreal creatures that resemble modern-day civets. A civet is a long, slender, cat-like animal with an elongated muzzle.

It is also commonly called "civet cat" and "weasel skunk". It is black with white spots and wide, wavy stripes, and a bushy 6-8" tail. It has small eyes and ears and short legs. There is a white spot on the forehead and in front of each ear.
