The Clay-colored Sparrow (Spizella pallida) is a breeding bird of brushy patches of habitat in the northern great plains of the north-central United States and Canada.

Clay-colored Sparrows are common in the Weaselhead/Glenmore Park area from May through September but their range is restricted to shrubby areas. Do not look for this species in densely treed areas.

Clay-colored Sparrow Spizella pallida. Rare in fall, and occasional in winter and spring in primarily outer coast of Gulf Coast region. Found in open woodlands with small trees and open shrubby areas.
