The Clownfish is supposed to be on of the cutest fish in the world. It is approximately 6 cm (2.4 inches) long with a weight of only few grams. It has got a typical body shape with a vivid orange-white-black coloration.

This clownfish is often confused with A. melanopus, also commonly called a tomato clown. It is generally a brighter orange, and always has a black border on the white stripe.

Clownfish perform an elaborate dance with an anemone before taking up residence, gently touching its tentacles with different parts of their bodies until they are acclimated to their host.

Symbiotic relationships: Some sea anemones form symbiotic relationships with crabs or with anemone fish, also known as clownfish.

One of the best known is between the clownfish (a kind of damsel fish) and the sea anemone. They work together to share food and avoid predators. As juveniles, clownfish incorporate the anemone's mucus into their own by 'rubbing' its tentacles.

Before a clownfish can call an anemone home, it has to get comfortable. The fish gently touches the anemone's tentacles over a period of several hours or days, until the fish forms a layer of mucus that's resistant to the stings.

When his son Nemo is captured by a scuba-diver, a nervous-nellie clownfish named Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) sets off into the vast--and astonishingly detailed--ocean to find him.

The clownfish and blue devil are popular aquarium species. Males of this family guard the eggs zealously. Damselfishes rarely grow to more than 6 in. (15 cm) in length.

Some examples are the Percula Clownfish, the star of the movie Finding Nemo, and the Orchid Dottyback. These fish have been raised in fish farms and are widely available at local fish stores. The second category is "Keep it Wild.

The Miscellaneous group of marine fish is for any type that doesn't belong to one of our other categories. Clownfish, Lionfish, Seahorses and Damsels all fall under this category.

Fishes such as Wrasses and Parrotfishes are all born female, with only a few individuals becoming male later in their life. Contrariwise Clownfishes are all born male, later when the existing female/s die/s the most dominant male/s become/s female.
