The Common Ground-Dove (Columbina passerina) is a resident species of the southern United States from California to Florida and South Carolina.

The Common Ground-Dove is normally found only in the southern tier of states in the continental U.S., but does tend to wander widely to the north. A quite tame bird, they will often remain sitting in a location until almost stepped upon.

Common Ground-Dove and Inca Dove similar but have scaly upperparts. Male Ruddy Ground-Dove has distinctive rusty upperparts.

Inca Doves are small gray doves with a strong "scaled" pattern. The wings flash rufous when it flys. The tail is longer and more square than the Common Ground-Dove.
