Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is a widespread winter visitor and local resident in India. Kestrels are diurnal and prefer an "open country" habitat found in fields, heaths, and marshland.

The Kestrel is the commonest daytime raptor in Europe. It is found throughout most of temperate and tropical Europe, Asia and Africa.

The Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is a bird of prey species belonging to the kestrel group of the falcon family Falconidae. It is also known as the European Kestrel, Eurasian Kestrel, or Old World Kestrel.

The Common Kestrel (F. tinnunculus) is widespread throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa, and even makes occasional appearances in North America.

The male Common Kestrel's upperside pattern is typical for true kestrels; compare to American Kestrel above.

Another irregular guest that flashes through the garden from time to time is the Common Kestrel (family Falconidae - Falcons) hunting for a blackbird or some other small bird.

Despite once being nearly wiped out in the United Kingdom, today common buzzard populations are now thriving not only here but also across Europe, with the common buzzard being Europe's second most common raptor behind the common kestrel.

The Rock Kestrel is sometimes considered a subspecies of the Common Kestrel.
