Common lizards can both lay eggs and give birth to live young. They lay eggs in warm climates, and bear live young in cold ones. They range from northern Asia across central and northern Europe and are the only reptiles found in Ireland.

The next most common lizards were these graceful, delicate anoles, of which I saw just five or six in several hours of hiking. I believe these are Slender Anoles (Anolis fuscoauratus).

Other Names Chameleon Description The green anole is a common lizard, slender in build, with a narrow head and a long, slender tail that can be twice as long as the rest of the animal. Color can vary from gray-brown, to brown, to bright green.

Range and Habitat: The green anole is a common lizard throughout Georgia and South Carolina, but is absent from some areas in the mountains. Anoles are generally arboreal (living in trees) but can be found almost anywhere.

This species currently holds no special status. It is a very common lizard species, even around human dwellings and disturbances.

Although it is the least common lizard encountered in Ohio, a number have been reported in Scioto County. The best field mark is the dark brown stripe, bordered by stark brown or black, running down the length of the back.

Walking through the San Bernardino County Mohave desert we discover several of these common lizards basking in the sun.

The sand lizard is one of only three species of lizard natively found in the UK along with the slow worm and the common lizard, and is protected in Britain (and much of Europe) as populations are low in most areas.

Japanese grass lizards are slender, long tails and rough to the feel their skins. The back is brown or dark brown in color. The belly is white or yellow. Squarish scals present on a body and tail. This species is the most common lizards in Hiroshima.
