Coon Cat

The Maine Coon cat is native to the Maine area of North America but it is thought to have derived from an American wild cat rather than another breed of domestic cat.
The "ringtail" cat is also called the "miner's" cat, because the gold rush miners keep them as pets, "Coon Cat", and "Civet Cat" are some of the others names for this cat.
Domestic cats have been selected by humans to display a wide array of body shapes and colors, from hairless forms to long-haired Persians and tail-less Manx cats to very large Maine coon cats.
