PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
There are about 25 species of Day Geckos (genus Phelsuma) mainly from Madagascar. Most Phelsuma species are brightly colored and strikingly patterned.

As the name implies, day geckos are active during the day (diurnal) and typically have round eye pupils. Instead of eyelids, clear fixed scales cover their eyes. These scales are kept clean and moist with a swipe of the gecko's long tongue.
