As common in Asia is the Eurasian tree sparrow (also introduced in the United States), a nuisance in rice fields and sold in great quantities for food. These birds build untidy domed nests with side entrances.

Old World sparrows are a large family represented in North America
by the common house sparrow and the rare Eurasian tree sparrow.
Both resemble the native sparrow, but have shorter legs and
thicker beaks.
