Status Three records. The first was seen in Dartmouth on 26 September 1970 by Ian McLaren, later that day joined by Eric Mills and Willett J. Mills.

Similar Species: Fork-tailed Flycatcher. This tropical species hasn't been found in South Dakota, but it has been known to wander widely, and has been seen in some of the surrounding states.

On the way back to the dock, we received a radio report of the Fork-tailed Flycatcher at Hellcat Swamp on Plum Island. The trip continued to the island where we had good looks at this rare and unexpected bird.
