Gannets are quite populous along the Atlantic coastline stretching from the southern United States up through Greenland and Iceland and through Europe down to north Africa.
Gannet pairs may remain together over several seasons. They perform elaborate greeting rituals at the nest, stretching their bills and necks skywards and gently tapping bills together.

The Northern Gannet (Morus bassanus) is a seabird that grows to lengths of 32in-35in (81cm-89cm) and weights of 1lb-6.5lb (0.5kg-3kg).
Northern Gannets feed primarily on surface-dwelling fish, such as herring and mackerel. To catch them, a gannet will dive from heights up to about 43 m (141 ft.), plummeting into the water at great speed and with considerable force.

Along with the darters, cormorants, gannets, boobies, frigatebirds, and tropicbirds, pelicans make up the order Pelecaniformes. Modern pelicans, of which there are eight species, are found on all continents except Antarctica.
They chase other birds, particularly gulls, gannets, terns, and boobies. This chase continues until the victim is forced to disgorge their food. Magnificent frigatebirds then catch the disgorged food in mid air.
