Gaur (Bos frontalis): A massive, forest-dwelling wild ox that lives in small herds and feeds in clearings at night.

In India the gaur is sometimes the main prey, including bulls weighing up to 1000 kg (2200 lb).

Tigers mainly hunt gaur (wild ox) and buffalo. Although a tiger is capable of killing a bull gaur more than twice its size, it prefers to attack young or old animals that put up less resistance.

Tigers mainly prey on large mammals such as pigs, deer, antelope, buffalo and gaur, but they also kill and eat small mammals and birds. Tigers are solitary hunters which stalk and then ambush their prey.

However, this is generally not supported. The wood bison is one of the largest species of bovid in the world, surpassed by only the Asian gaur and wild Asian water buffalo. It is the largest extant land animal in North America.
