Glossy Starling
Bird. Burchell's glossy starlings draw a lot of attention to themselves with their looks and their voices. Standing with their heads flung back and their wings slightly dropped, they belt out a throaty, musical call.

The Cape Glossy Starling (Lamprotornis nitens) is widespread over much of southern Africa. The one shown here was near Satara Camp, in Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa in January, 2006.
