The Golden Mole lives in tunnels which can extend for over 10 metres in length. They make mounds outside the entrance of their tunnel about 20 cms high.

Golden moles in the Chlorotalpa weigh 40 - 75 g (1.4 - 2.7 oz). They are found in a variety of habitats but mostly in dry sandy soils. Golden moles eat . Their 1 or 2 young are born in a grass-lined cavity in the ground.

Grant's golden mole
A member of the ancient native group of African mammals and not related to European moles, the golden moles are solitary, blind burrowers with shiny pale brown fur. Grant's golden mole particularly specialises in eating termites.
