Green Anaconda

Green anacondas can grow to more than 29 feet (8.8 meters), weigh more than 550 pounds (227 kilograms), and measure more than 12 inches (30 centimeters) in diameter. Females are significantly larger than males.

The Green Anaconda is found throughout tropical South America, east of the Andes, mainly in the Amazon and Orinoco basins and in the Guiana.

Green anacondas are giant, heavy-bodied snakes that average 10-15 feet in length but can grow to 20 feet (or perhaps even larger).

Green anaconda are carnivorous. In the wild these snakes will eat almost anything they can manage to overpower, including: fish, birds, mammals and reptiles.

Green Anacondas have very few natural predators because of their large size. Their greatest threat is man due to lack of knowledge about them and because of myths and stories depicting anacondas as man-eaters.

The Green Anaconda is one of the world's longest snakes, reaching 5-7 m (18-23ft) long (known to be exceeded only by the reticulated python Python reticulatus).
