The Grey Squirrel is a native of the eastern United States and Canada but has been introduced into the British Isles and Italy.

 


Grey squirrels are notorious for displacing red squirrels in European woodlands. They out-compete the native reds for food, feeding more at ground level and being able to digest acorns, which the reds can't.

Where are they found? Europe, North America ...

Eastern grey squirrels like to eat hickory nuts, beechnuts, acorns, and walnuts. It also likes to eat maple buds, bark, and samaras, flowers, buds, tulip tree blossoms, apples, fungi, and a wide variety of seeds, as well as the occasional insect.

Grey Squirrels and Man
Man is the main predator of grey squirrels in Britain. Foresters, gamekeepers, park keepers and many conservationists regard grey squirrels as pests, mainly because they damage trees.

Western grey squirrels are found in oak woodlands and coniferous forests. They can be found at elevations up to 2,500 meters.

i have a pet baby grey squirrel, he is about 1 month and a half old, i have bottle-fed him since he was a few weeks old, now he follows me everywhwere and comes when i snap my fingers.
