Grey whales undertake the longest annual migration of any known mammal, along the coastlines between their summer feeding and winter breeding grounds.

Grey whales can be found in the shallow coastal waters of the eastern North Pacific. These whales make one of the longest migrations of all mammals, averaging 10,000-14,000 miles round trip.

The Gray whale or Grey whale (Eschrichtius robustus), more recently called the Eastern Pacific Gray whale, is a whale that travels between feeding and breeding grounds yearly.

There are 15 species of baleen whales that are divided into four subgroups: right whales, rorquals, the grey whale and the pygmy right whale.

Whales can swim at great speed. Killer whales can reach 60 kph, some dolphins 30 kph, the large Fin Whale cruises at 22 to 26 kph. Right Whales and Grey Whales are a bit slower, with a top speed of about 11 kph.
