PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
The guinea pig, originally from Peru, still exists there where it is called a Cavy. The origin of the common name "Guinea Pig" is uncertain.
Guinea Pigs are hystricomorph rodents (related to chinchillas and porcupines) that originated from the Andes Mountains region of South America. Their scientific name is 'Cavia Porcellus' and so they are called 'Cavies' for short.

This sound means basically the same thing that it means when a guinea pig or squirrel chatters. A chattering degu is an unhappy degu. They will usually only chatter when they are being teased or if a male sees another male.
