GULPERS Gulpers are filter feeders (baleen whales) that occasionally take large gulps of concentrated food (usually tiny crustaceans and small fish). Food is then pushed into the gullet with the tongue.
Gulpers are also deep water fish - there are several different species that are commonly called Gulper Eels. They live at depths of 9,000 feet or more, where there is no light from the surface at all.
