Cod - member of the large family Gadidae, comprising commercially important food fishes. The cods include the hake and the haddock, all found in the N Atlantic and Pacific.

Hake
The term hake refers to fish in either of:
families Gadidae (subfamily Phycinae)
families Merlucciidae (both subfamilies Merlucciinae and Steindachneriinae).

They feed on hake, capelin, herring, and invertebrates, like shrimp and shellfish.

Roseate Terns feed in salt water on small fish, most frequently sand lance but also white hake, juvenile herring, mackerel, gadids, cod, pollock, and haddock.

Although flatfishes make up part of the diet, blue sharks predominantly eat pelagic fishes such as herring, silver hake, white hake, red hake, cod, haddock, pollock, mackerel, butterfish , sea raven, tuna and swordfish.

Adult swordfish forage includes pelagic fish including small tuna, dorado, barracuda, flying fish, mackerel, as well as benthic species of hake and rockfish. Squid are important when available.

Eatscephalopods, Pacific hake and other teleosts, various cartilaginous fishes, and jawless fishes (Condit and Le Boeuf 1984).

They have a wide and varied diet, and are known to be opportunistic predators on many species of fish, including salmon, pacific cod, pollock, hake, sculpins, squid and octopus.

Heaviside's dolphin, Cephalorhynchus heavisidii, primarily feed on fish such as hake, kingfish, and gobies. Octopus and squid are also a part of their diet.

The haddock or offshore hake is a marine fish distributed on both sides of the North Atlantic. Haddock is a popular food fish, widely fished commercially.

Roseate Terns live mostly on small fish, such as sand lance, hake, and herring in the northeast, patrolling above water, then plunging to catch fish below surface. They occasionally eat crustaceans as well

Pacific white-sided dolphins are carnivorous (meat eating) and feed primarily on squid, herring, sardines, hake, octopus, and anchovies. They consume about 20 pounds of food a day.

TEETH AND DIET
The porbeagle feed on fish (mostly mackerel, squid, cod, hake, flounder and other bottom-dwelling fish) with its long, sharp teeth.

The porbeagle is a potentially dangerous shark.

Foods eaten include: cephalopods, anchovies, herring, Pacific whiting, rockfish, hake, salmon, squid and octopuses (Riedman, 1990).

Small striped bass are eaten by other fish such as Atlantic tomcod, Atlantic cod, silver hake and larger striped bass. Adult striped bass have few predators except humans.

Bait: Squid strip, clams or feather lures, herring, cod, haddock and hake.

Diet: Pacific White-sided Dolphins eat squid and small schooling fish such as anchovies, herring, sardines, hake, salmon, rockfish, and pollock.

Western Europe accounts for 70-80% of the world cod market, with the UK being Europe's largest importer and consumer. Cod, together with the similar whitefish pollock and hake, accounts for one-third of all seafood imports into the EU.

20 to several hundred members but huge concentrations numbering into the hundreds of thousands have been observed. They commonly travel above submarine ridges where they dive to feed on squid and fishes including lantern fish, anchovies, and hake.
