A recent example is a type of Pacific salmon called Kokanee. Kokanee were sockeye salmon that were landlocked at some point in their life history and can no longer migrate to the ocean.
There are also completely landlocked populations of the same species, which are known as kokanee or "silver trout." Sockeye salmon is the third most common Pacific salmon species, after pink and chum salmon.
