The Lark Bunting (Calamospiza melanocorys) breeds in the grasslands of the western portions of the mid west region of the United States and parts of southern Canada.

Lark Buntings breed on the short-grass prairies of southeastern Alberta north to about the latitude of Drumheller and west to about the longitude of Lethbridge.

Status Rare vagrant. It was first seen by Harrison F. Lewis and Willett J. Mills at Brier Island on 13 September 1955. Since then there have been 10 occurrences of 14 individuals.

The Lark Bunting (Calamospiza melanocorys) congregates in large flocks along roadsides. The male is all black with a large white wing patch.
