The Little Blue Heron (Egretta caerulea) is essentially a bird of the southeastern United States, Mexico and Central America. It may also be found in parts of South America.
Little Blue Herons breed along the Atlantic coast from southern Maine to Florida, with concentrations from South Carolina southward.

Little Blue Heron: Medium heron with slate-gray body and purple-blue head and neck. Eyes are yellow and bill is dark gray with black tip. Legs and feet are dark. The only dark heron species in North America in which the juvenile is white.
Diet The little blue heron eats fish, crustaceans, amphibians, insects and reptiles. It stands in shallow water and waits for its prey to go by, and then it grabs its prey with its pointed bill.
