Loggerhead Sea Turtle
The Loggerhead Sea Turtle is the most common sea turtle in Florida. The top shell of an adult loggerhead is reddish-brown while the scaly underside of the belly is yellow.

Loggerhead sea turtles are found in coastal tropical and subtropical waters often extending to temperate waters in search of food. Found in the Atlantic Ocean from Argentina to Nova Scotia.

Loggerhead sea turtles are known for their migratory behavior. Some individuals have been recorded migrating up to 4,828 km. Adults and juveniles in temperate waters migrate towards the equator for winter to avoid cold stunning in waters under 10 ÂșC.

The loggerhead sea turtle is a large reddish-brown sea turtle with a disproportionately large head. Adult loggerheads range in size from 0.85-l.0 meters (33-40 inches) shell length and weigh between 68-182 kilograms (150-400 pounds).

The Loggerhead Sea Turtle is a sea turtle and the only member of the genus Caretta. The genus name "Caretta" is a latinization of the French "caret", meaning turtle, tortoise, or sea turtle.
