Magellanic penguins live in temperate climates, not in the Antarctic. In the breeding season the parents share the babysitting duties, one incubating the chick while the other goes out to sea to feed. The chick gets a meal every two to three days.

Because it is illegal to mark the penguin, the only way to identify each penguin is to mark the burrow, and Magellanic penguins are the only penguins living in burrows.
The Galapagos may look like the magellanic penguin but it is smaller and the black markings on the belly are thinner. They are found only on the Galapagos and Isabela Islands just north of the Equator.
