Mambas belong to a group of venemous snakes called elapids. This short fanged group of snakes includes the Coral Snake of North America and the Cobras.

Mamba Babies: Black Mamba hatchlings are around 51cm long, and grayish-green in color. They are independent immediately and can catch prey the size of a small rat. Within a year, they reach 2m.

Mambas, of the genus Dendroaspis, are fast-moving tree-dwelling snakes of Africa.

The Black Mamba is the most deadly snake in the world. They grow 14 feet in length, and can travel at speeds of up to 12 mph. They have a head shaped like a coffin.
