MARGAY FACTS
Description
The Margay is a small spotted cat that looks like a small Ocelot. The fur is usually tan (sometimes grayish or cinnamon) with dark brown spots form in rows along length of body. The underside is white.

Description. A small, spotted cat similar to the ocelot in color and color pattern but smaller, more slender, and usually with longer tail; skull seldom exceeding 110 mm in greatest length.
RangeThe margay can be found from Mexico to Argentina. It was once found in the United States in Texas. The last margay seen in the United States was spotted in Texas in the 1850s.
Habitat The margay makes its home in tropical and subtropical forests.

Their pelage is shorter and less soft and thick than their close relative, the margay (Leopardus wiedii). Their ventral pelage is white and their dorsal pelage ranges from off-white to tawny-yellow to reddish-gray.
