Mosquitoes are not as attracted to light as many other insects. They hone in on a blood-bearing target by sensing the carbon dioxide released by breathing. This is why bug zappers are a waste of time controlling mosquitoes.

The mosquito is an insect with a pair of scaled wings, a slender body, and long legs. The females of most mosquito species suck blood from other animals. Their overall Size varies, but is rarely greater than 15 mm (0.6 inch).

Mosquitofish
The mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis) is a species of freshwater fish, also commonly known simply by its generic name, gambusia, although such usage is, to say the least, ambiguous.

Mosquitoes are a vector agent that carries disease-causing viruses and parasites from person to person without catching the disease themselves. Female mosquitoes suck blood from people and other animals as part of their eating and breeding habits.
