Baltimore Oriole male similarly patterned, but bright orange, not deep brick red, and with orange in tail. Female and immature male light orange, not yellow.

The Orchard Oriole (Icterus spurius) is a common nesting bird across much of the eastern half of the United States.

Male Orchard Oriole is quite distictive. Female Baltimore and Bullock's Orioles have grayer bellies than female Orchard Orioles. Female Hooded Oriole very similar but has a decurved bill.

Orchard Oriole Icterus spurius. Breeder. Common in spring, summer, and fall in all regions, and occasional in winter in Mountain and Gulf Coast regions. In breeding season, found in open areas, with scattered trees, especially near water.

The Orchard Oriole occurs in most of the eastern United States during the breeding season. In the Southeast during the breeding season, this species occurs throughout the region except for peninsular Florida.

Orioles diet chiefly consists of insects and fruit. In the orchard oriole, chestnut replaces the brilliant orange of the Baltimore Oriole .The Bullock's oriole, of West North America has orange markings on the head.

In the orchard oriole, chestnut replaces the brilliant orange of the Baltimore oriole. Bullock's oriole, of W North America, has orange markings on the head. New World orioles lay four to six eggs per clutch and both sexes incubate the eggs.
