Ovenbird (Seiurus aurocapillus)
The Ovenbird breeds in southern Canada and the USA east of the Rockies but winters in southeastern USA, Central America, northern South America and the West Indies.

The Ovenbird (Seiurus aurocapillus) is a member of the warbler family. This species breeds the eastern and northern United States as well as much of Canada. The first 3 shots on this page were taken at Whipple Dam State Park, Huntingdon Co.

On the beach we became acquainted with the Blackish Cincloides a small ovenbird that works the seaweed on the beach. It is not afraid of people and will walk right under your feet.

The Seiurus warblers are the ground-foraging waterthrushes and Ovenbird. These birds do not display the dimorphism so common in parulids.

There are of course exceptions. The Seiurus waterthrushes and Ovenbird are strongly migratory, but have identical male and female plumage, whereas the mainly tropical and sedentary yellowthroats are dimorphic.
