Oviraptorosaurs laid oblong eggs that were slightly ovoid (one end is slightly narrower than the other). In this group of dinosaurs, there can be 30 to 40 eggs in the nest, and they are arranged in pairs in a radial pattern, like spokes.
^ For example in 1923, 3 years before Heilmans's book, Roy Chapman Andrews found a good Oviraptor fossil in Mongolia, but Henry Fairfield Osborn, who analyzed the fossil in 1924, mis-identified the furcula as an interclavicle; described in Paul, ...

Birds are believed to be extant members of a group of dinosaurs called maniraptors (other maniraptors include Velociraptor and Oviraptor).
The skull of Epidexipteryx is also unique in a number of features, and bears an overall similarity to the skull of Sapeornis, oviraptorosaurs and, to a lesser extent, therizinosauroids.
