Silver Perch: Bairdiella chrysoura
Appearance:
color silvery with yellowish fins; no spots; no chin barbels; no prominent canine teeth at tip of upper jaw; preopercle finely serrated; 5 to 6 chin pores; mouth terminal.
Perches should be placed in front of food and water dishes, so the dishes can be easily reached by the bird. To avoid droppings contaminating the food or water, AVOID placing perches over the dishes.
Perch eat minnows and the young of other small fish. They also eat insects such as mayflies.
Predators
Many larger predatory fish will eat perch.
Perch eat mostly aquatic insect larvae when they are small. As they grow, many kinds of fish such as smelt, yellow perch, killifsh, and other white perch are eaten. They usually mature at 3 years and live 5 to 7 years.
Silver Perch
The Silver Perch (classified by scientists as Bidyanus bidyanus) is also known as the Murray Perch, Grunter, or Black Bream. It is mostly silver in color with yellow fin-tips.

Perches are one of the most important aspects for housing this bird. They should be placed high enough so that their long tails don´t get damage by hitting the floor.
It perches on branches above water and catches insects flying fairly low and close to the surface of the water.
Note the apparent change in colour from a sunny day in photo 1 to a dull day in photo 3.

When perched, this bird appears very bulky because of its dense and fluffy plumage, long wings that extend past the body, relatively long tail and large head. It typically measures 61 to 84 cm in length (24 to 33 in.).
