Pink salmon or humpback salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) (from the Russian gorbuscha--горбуша) is a species of anadromous fish in the salmon family. It is the smallest and most abundant of the Pacific salmon.

 


Harbour seals are opportunistic feeders, and on the BC coast feed on chum and pink salmon during the fall, octopus, rockfish and salmon in the summer and eulachon in the winter.

The diet of the Northern Hemisphere humpback whales consists of planktonic crustaceans and small schooling fish such as herring, capelin, pink salmon, Arctic cod, walleye pollack, sardine, mackerel, anchovy and haddock.
