Blue poison frogs are predominantly blue in coloration with small black spots on their dorsum. Their 'hunch-back' appearance is another of their recognizable characteristics.

For the first time, scientists have found a poisonous frog that takes up a toxin from its prey and then tweaks the chemical to make it a more deadly weapon.

As it has been already mentioned the Golden Arrow - poison frog is a highly toxic one. Its skin glands produce toxic substance when only 0.00001 g of this venom can kill a human.

Like the poison frogs from Central and South America, the mantella frogs from Madagascar use their bright colors to defend their territories from other males during courtship, as well as to warn would-be predators that they are poisonous to eat.

The blue poison frog is one of the most striking of the poison arrow frogs. It is a mid-sized frog in the Dendrobates family with its length ranging from 3.0 - 4.5 cm. They usually weigh approximately 3 grams. Poison arrow frogs vary in length from 1.
