A Polar bear's nose and skin are black and the fur is translucent despite its apparent white hue. The fur is good camouflage as well as insulation. Stiff hairs grow on the soles of its paws; these insulate and provide traction on ice.
The polar bear has fur on the soles of its feet that helps protect it from the cold and ice and prevents the polar bear from sliding on the ice. The polar also has some webbing between its toes that help it paddle in the water.
The polar bear is a smart hunter. It will spend hours beside the breathing hole of a seal in the ice. When the seal emerges for air, the polar bear will use its claws to grab the seal. This instinct came into play after the Fall.
The polar bear is a mighty hunter of seals. The most carnivorous of the bears, it is also the most patient. They will sit near a seal blow-hole for hours, waiting, until the animal surfaces. When it does, it is all over for the seal.
Polar bears are strictly carnivores and feed or scavenge only meat. Their primary prey is the ringed seal though they also take bearded, harp and hooded seals and the occasional walrus youngster. They will also scavenge walrus and whale carcasses.

The only predators of narwhals besides man are polar bears and orcas. Inuit people are allowed to hunt this whale species legally for subsistence.
