Subspecies in Colorado: Crotalus viridis concolor (Midget Faded Rattlesnake) in western Colorado;
Crotalus viridis viridis (Prairie Rattlesnake) in southern and eastern Colorado.
Possible viridis/concolor integrades in northwest and southwest.

Once incubation is complete, the owlets hatch some time between March and July. An amazing defense mechanism that owlets possess is their ability to perfectly mimic the rattling sound of a prairie rattlesnake.

I have one large prairie rattlesnake living and my brother in central Illinois has three. You once said Mr. Toxicologist Mitchell would perhaps like some living specimens of C. tergeminus and so I've kept them. Are they wanted alive?
