Eurasian Pygmy Owls are a demonstrative species. If excited, it will cock its tail, flicking it from side to side; if angry, the feathers of the body and head are raised, and when frightened, they are held tightly against the upright body.

Cactus ferruginous pygmy-owls are one of three subspecies of the ferruginous pygmy-owl. They have longer tails than most owls, are reddish-brown with a cream colored belly and have a crown that is lightly streaked.
The keys to the distinction between the two North American Pygmy Owls is habitat, color, call, white markings and tail barring.

Eastern Screech Owl stayed in the same hole day after day for observing birders. The tram stops right by the hole. There are also Ferruginous Pygmy Owls and Elf Owls in the park.
