Quetzal Classification and Evolution
The Quetzal is a medium sized bird that is found inhabiting the moist, tropical rainforests of Central America from southern Mexico right down into Panama.

The Pavonine Quetzal lives in the Amazon Basin all the way up to 600 meters. It is the only Quetzal found in the Amazon but I have not obtained good pictures of this bird.

It is found in the mid-storey, sub-canopy and canopy of terra firme forest.
