Rabbits have long ears and long hindlegs for jumping. They have two pairs of upper incisors, the first enlarged and chisel-like, the second small and directly behind the first, lacking cutting edges.

Rabbits are one of Britains most familiar animals and favourite pets. Rabbits are seen about in broad daylight, near roadsides, hedgerows and scampering in fields often in large numbers.

Rabbits are fast-moving, big-eared . There are about 25 different species of rabbits. They live in a variety of environments, including deserts, swamps, marshes, forests, grasslands, and prairies.

Rabbit Diet
Rabbit food requirements consist entirely of plant materials, ideally grassy fibres, vegetables and occasionally some fruit. Lettuce and alfalfa also suit most rabbits, as do carrots, broccoli and the green leaves of dandelions.

Rabbit Invaders: In Australia, rabbits are the most serious mammalian pests, an invasive species, and are responsible for the extinction of about as many native animals as the fox.

Rabbits need pellets
Your bunny will also need a ration of good-quality pellets. Opt for a formula with 15 to 19 percent protein and 18 percent fiber.

The white-tailed jackrabbit is actually a hare, not a rabbit. Baby jackrabbits can run immediately after being born. Adults can leap 3 meters (10 feet) at a time at speeds of 64 kilometers (40 miles) per hour.

Behavior The black-tailed jackrabbit can run at speeds of up to 30 miles an hour and it can jump a distance of about 20 feet. When it is trying to evade predators like coyotes, foxes, bobcats, badgers and weasels, it moves in a zig-zag pattern.

The White-tailed Jackrabbit (Lepus townsendii) occurs across the northern portions of the western United States and much of south central Canada. It lives in open grassy areas from the plains regions to high mountains.

Also known as the Bushman Rabbit, this species of rabbit is one of the world's rarest mammals. This is due to many factors, one being it has an unusually low rate of breeding for rabbits, producing only 1 or 2 young per year.
