Rainbow boa

Animals RacerRainbow Fish

Rainbow Boa
Range:
Widespread throughout much of South America; Amazon Basin, especially coastal Brazil, Guiana, French Guyana, Suriname and southern Venezuela.
Habitat:
Humid woodland forest, rarely open savannas ...

Rainbow boas prowl for food at night and sleep during the day. Although they usually rest in a tree or bush, they spend most of their waking time on the ground. They feed on birds, their eggs, small mammals, lizards, and frogs.

Rainbow boas are one of the most sought after exotic snake for the pet trade because of their iridescent skin. Over collection and rainforest destruction for agriculture, ranching, and development has significantly decreased their populations.

Brazilian rainbow boa
Epicrates cenchria
The Brazilian rainbow boa is named for its iridescent sheen—tiny ridges on the scales act like prisms to refract light and create a rainbow-colored effect.

Some are brightly colored, like the green and white emerald tree boa of the tropics (Boa canina), or iridescent, like the wide-ranging rainbow boa (Epicrates cenchris).

Boas are found in a variety of habitats, including open woodlands-like the rainbow boa Epicrates cenchria-and rocky, semi-desert scrublands-like the Egyptian sand boa Eryx colubrinus.

bicolored hawks (Accipiter bicolor)
anacondas (Eunectes murinus)
rainbow boas (Boa constrictor)
jararacas (Bothrops jararaca)
tayras (Eira barbara)
ocelots (Leopardus pardalis)
jaguars (Panthera onca) ...

Many other snakes display similar "burrowing" habits, kings, milks, rainbow boas, sand/rosy/rubber boas, just to name a few.
Where as I have never seen a boa constrictor, carpet python or ball python exhibit any of this behaviour.
